For a long time we searched to find a basic (but not boring!) yarn. We wanted a yarn you could pick up for any project. It needed excellent stitch-definition, resistance to pilling, and luscious colors that would accent your stitches, not obscure them. However, it also had to fit all that is “frabjous.” In addition to being practical and pretty, it also needed to be handspun, fair-trade, hand-dyed, and eco-friendly. A tall order!
Adelina is a 50-50 combination of eri silk and wool—the perfect marriage of sheen and memory. Eri silk is considered Ahimsa silk or “peace silk,” meaning the moth is allowed to emerge from its cocoon, rather than being gassed as is done in traditional silk production. Handspun for us by a familyowned business in the heart of India’s silk country, it is 3-ply and approximately DK weight. Adelina is hand-dyed in lovely tone-on-tone colors, and is available natural as well.
