Silk cocoons: the silkworm pods which are the origin of all silk products. It can take 2000-3000 cocoons to make a pound of silk. Imported from the heart of India’s silk country, these cocoons are a natural mix of shapes, sizes, and qualities. The cocoons have holes where they have been cut open; some moth bits may still be inside. These cocoons are not de-gummed—meaning they retain their oval shape.
