Sari Ribbon:
Sari Ribbon is made from fabric remnants and weaving mill waste.  The fabrics are cut into strips and sewn end to end.  The resulting ribbon yarn is fabulously textured and the silk takes the dye beautifully.  Since it is a hand-made yarn, ribbon width and yardage will vary.  If you come to a weak spot in your ribbon, cut it and join as if adding a new yarn.

Yardage:
The bag shown used every bit of one skein.  I did not hold the yarn doubled for the strap (I didn’t have enough leftover), but prefer the straps I’ve made with the yarn doubled.  So, by making the strap and button closure first, the tube can be knit until you run out of yarn.  Your finished bag might be closer to 9.5 inches tall, rather than 10, but you will only need the one skein.  Alternately, use a second skein and make a larger bag by casting on more stitches.
