Humble Beginnings
Born from a love of textiles and fiber, and built upon the desire to create a healthy work/life balance steeped in color and texture, Frabjous Fibers and Wonderland Yarns lives and breathes in the BDCC Book Press building in Brattleboro, VT, where all the magic happens.
The story of Frabjous Fibers begins with owner Stephanie Shiman, some recycled silk yarn, a knitted bag design, and a few boxes of imports stashed under the dining room table. The business grew organically from dining room to attic to house take-over to studio to bigger studio. A one-woman operation grew from a love of color and texture, over the course of a decade, from one to three to a dozen-strong team.
While still supporting worker-cooperatives in Nepal with our inventory of recycled silk yarns and handfelted notions bags (designed by Stephanie), Frabjous Fibers produces a full line of hand dyed fibers and yarns in-house. From 100% superwash merino, to lustrous luxury fibers, the bases in our Wonderland Yarns line shine in dozens of tonal and variegated colorways.
Inspired by the colorful adventures of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and the ever-breathtaking landscape of southern Vermont, our creative spark is always lit. Our team is a family, we love what we do, and we hope you can feel it when you work with Frabjous Fibers and Wonderland Yarns on your next project!
