Description

This colorwork cowl features a lovely scrollwork cemetery gate scene motif that circles the entire circumference of the design. Colorwork becomes pure magic when paired with our gradient color-shifting yarn. This pattern is designed for a ‘SplitShade Blossom’ that is half a tonal color and half color morph. You will use the tonal color as MC and the color morph as CC. Alternately you could use two contrasting colors, or a tonal color with a Blossom.

Our 'Split-Shades' Blossoms are specially dyed for colorwork: one half of the cake features a rich tonal hue, while the other half transitions through a beautiful gradient shift. With just one cake, you can create something truly extraordinary!

Yarn: Wonderland Yarns Mad Hatter ‘SplitShade’ Blossom sport weight, 100% superwash merino: 344 yds/per 4 oz cake; Color — 'Obsidian Vine'

Needles & Notions: US size 2/2.75mm & US size 3/3.25mm (or size required to get gauge) in your preferred method for working in the round, we recommend 16"/40cm circulars, 1 stitch marker (or 6 if you’d like to mark the pattern repeat)

Gauge: 27 sts & 30 rounds = 4"/10cm in color stranded pattern with larger needle

Sizes & Measurements:
24.5"/ 62cm around, 11"/28cm tall, after blocking

Techniques used: stranded colorwork, working in the round

Colorwork notes: We recommend that you “trap” your floats at least every 4-5 stitches. For more info about catching floats, watch the video listed below. Take care to keep your tension the same when switching back and forth between yarns.
