This design was inspired by the barbecue at the Twelve Oaks plantation in ‘Gone with the Wind.’ This square motif has an easy, repeatable 3-row pattern using back post stitches to create a picnic basket texture.

Project Level: Easy (project includes simple stitch patterns, color work, and/or shaping)
Yarn: 1 skein of Wonderland Yarns “Mad Hatter” sport weight, 100% superwash merino: 344 yards/4 oz skein; shown on the Limited Edition ‘Tara’ colorway. This square motif takes about 1 oz of yarn; 1 skein should produce 3 squares with a
remainder left to save for joining.
Hooks & Notions: US G-6/4 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, blocking pins & mats
Gauge: 4” x 4” = 19 half double crochet x 16 rows (blocked)
Measurements: each square is 8.5” on all edges (blocked)
