This design was inspired by William Thackery’s novel ‘Vanity Fair’ and his mention of Wellington’s troops marching away to defeat Napoleon. This square motif has an easy repeatable 2-row pattern that will take no time at all to conquer.

Yarn: 1 skein of Wonderland Yarns “Mad Hatter” sport weight, 100% superwash merino: 344 yards/4 oz skein; shown on the Limited Edition ‘Rue de la Blanchisserie’ colorway. This square motif takes about 1 oz of yarn; 1 skein should produce 3 squares with a remainder left to save for joining.
Hooks & Notions: US G-6/4 mm crochet hook, yarn needle, blocking pins & mats
Gauge: 4” x 4” = 19 half double crochet x 16 rows (blocked)
Measurements: each square is 8.5” on all edges (blocked)
