Titania Hat & Mitts

A strong female role is not necessarily something expected from Shakespeare, but Titania is a woman who knows her own mind. Queen of the fairies, she is a force of nature who is, nevertheless, vulnerable, and strangely relatable, even human. Since, even in midsummer, the nights can be chilly, here is a set of leaf-bedecked warmth for your head and hands to remind you of Titania’s strength. 

The leaf motif is worked in stockinette while the intervening stems are worked in a twisted knit. The yarn-overs give a hint of lace while the twisted rib gives it elasticity. Both the hat and mitts have a twisted rib border knit with two strands held together. 

Yarn: One (1) skein Wonderland Yarns “Mad Hatter” sport weight yarn (4oz skein, 344 yards per skein), 100% sw merino, shown on 'Mince Pie'

Needles & Notions 

❖ US size 5/3.75mm, 12"/30.5cm circular & double-point needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) 

❖ US size 6/4mm, 12"/30.5cm circular & double-point needles (or 1 needle size larger than needle for gauge) 

❖ darning needle 

❖ marker 

Gauge: 24 sts x 24 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch with smaller needle, unblocked 

Measurements: stretchy, one size fits most
