Each Friday our featured pattern will update with our latest selection — patterns can be knit or crochet.
This week's FREE PATTERN: Yellow Brickbasket Cowl
For our limited edition “Oz” colorway, I wanted a stitch pattern that made you think of the yellow brick road but it needed to be achieved with only one color. So, this one reminds me of the yellow brick road and Dorothy’s basket — so Yellow Brickbasket it is! It’s a simple repeat and easily memorized. When knit with DK weight yarn, this one flies off the needles quicker than you can say “there’s no place like home.”
Yarn: Wonderland Yarns “Alice” DK weight, 4 oz/ 242 yds, 70% superwash merino, 30% silk: 1 skein, shown colorway “Entirely Bonkers” (nearly the entire skein is used)
— Alternate yarn: Lory (DK) weight, 4 oz/280 yds, 100% superwash merino
Needles & Notions: US 6/4mm 16"/40.5cm circular needle (or your preferred needle arrangement for knitting in the round) (or size required to get gauge), 1 stitch marker, darning needle
Gauge: 23 sts & 28 rounds = 4"/10 cm in pattern (without blocking)
Measurements/sizing: snug: 20"/51cm around & 10.75"/27cm tall looser: (25"/63.5cm around & 10.75"/27cm tall)
