This week's FREE PATTERN: Twinkle, Twinkle Star Ornament
These sweet little stars are crafted by working each side of the star separately — first knitting the points, then joining them in the round and decreasing to the center. The two halves are sewn together, stuffed, and finished with a little i-cord loop for hanging. These little sparklers add a delightful touch of winter whimsy!
Yarn: Wonderland Yarns “Unicorn” sport weight, 60% silk, 23% kid mohair, 11% nylon, 3% lurex sparkle magic: 4 oz skein, 230 yards (shown) (makes 3-4 ornaments)
OR Wonderland Yarns “Confetti” fingering weight, 92% superwash wool, %5 colorful nepps, 3% lurex sparkle magic: 432 yds per 3.5 oz skein (makes 3-5 ornaments)
Needles & Notions: US size 4/3.5mm double-pointed needles (5) (or size required to get gauge or suitable fabric so the filling doesn’t show); darning needle; stitch holder or spare needle; stitch marker — one in unique color to mark BOR; wool, cotton, or polyester fiberfill for stuffing
Gauge: 20 sts & 30 rounds = 4"/10cm with yarn held doubled (gauge isn’t extremely important as long as you have a dense enough fabric so the stuffing will not show)
Measurements: 5"/13cm across & approximately & 1"/2.5cm thick
